Cooperation between Scala Scientific and OLVG
Since Scala Scientific was founded in 2009, the company has had the understanding and the attitude that service is always number one. One of the parties where this is reflected is the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis (OLVG). This Amsterdam hospital and Scala Scientific have been working together successfully for 13.5 years (since its establishment in 2009). The basis for the success of the cooperation lies in Scala Scientific's service. Speed and solution-orientation are central to this. This has built a lot of mutual trust in recent years.
Cooperation between Scala Scientific and OLVG
Scala Scientific supplies various types of laboratory equipment to the OLVG. This includes cooling and freezing equipment (such as -80 freezers and somewhat smaller laboratory refrigerators) and laboratory centrifuges. Scala Scientific's laboratory equipment is mainly used within the OLVG for storing medication and materials in the OR. There are now about 100 Scala Scientific devices spread throughout the OLVG. Naturally, many of them are located at the pharmacy, but the departments themselves also have small refrigerators for the medication stock.
At the start of the partnership, contact with Scala Scientific came from the medical technology department at the OLVG. Two years ago, this was changed and since then the contact has been from the technical department. Within the OLVG, the technical department is, among other things, responsible for the maintenance of the freezers and refrigerators. The lines between the OLVG technical department and Scala Scientific are therefore short when it comes to service and maintenance of the equipment.

Service and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Part of Scala Scientific's service includes two annual maintenance checks. One for the cooling and freezing equipment and one for all laboratory centrifuges. Naturally, assistance is also provided in case of malfunctions or problems.
First-line malfunctions are reported to the OLVG technical service. They determine whether the malfunction is correct and whether it cannot be solved easily. If it turns out that they cannot solve it, Scala Scientific is called in. Scala Scientific's service is then aimed at completely unburdening you. This starts with fast and adequate (telephone) response. Based on a few control questions, Scala Scientific's technical experts are well placed to determine where the problem lies. This ensures that a quick call can then be made and the right follow-up action taken. This ranges from a technician visiting directly to provide on-site assistance, to supplying a loaner device. In some cases, even checking questions are enough to reach a solution.
Richard Terstegen, first employee electrical engineering (OLVG location west): "Scala Scientific is always very quick in case of breakdowns. If there is a problem, we call and they solve it. If we don't succeed immediately, there is always a loaner device ready, so business always goes on. From my role, I deal with many different companies. I can therefore conclude that Scala Scientific is exceptionally quick and is one of the few parties that immediately comes up with a solution or temporary fix.
Incidentally, it is not often that we have contact because the laboratory equipment is of good quality.
Even when new equipment is delivered, the people at Scala Scientific are very helpful. Equipment installation is arranged on site, the new equipment is brought in and the old equipment is neatly taken away. For us, there is no work involved other than offering coffee and guiding them to the right department."
Short lines of communication
To promote cooperation and communication, Scala Scientific brought the OLVG technical service to Scala Scientific. On site, the teams got acquainted and a short training session was held. This immediately created a good click with short lines of communication. Both parties know how to find each other easily and communicate almost at colleague level. This makes the cooperation unique.

About the client
OLVG is a hospital in Amsterdam. It was created by the merger of Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis and Sint Lucas Andreas Hospital in June 2015. The boards of the hospitals had already merged in 2013. In October 2015, the old names expired and the new, common name OLVG came into use.
